I have forgiven those who disparaged me for accepting Ruto’s donation; Bishop Mwai
Jesus Winner Ministry Church head pastor, Bishop Edward Mwai, has publicly stated that he has forgiven Kenyans who have vilified him after accepting a Ksh20 million donation from President William Ruto.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the Roysambu-based church, Jesus Wnner Ministry, Mwai said he harboured no resentment towards those who harshly reprimanded him online.
According to him, his decision to forgive stemmed from his understanding that the Gen Z protesters who had vowed to occupy his church were not acting independently but were being influenced by a political figure.
“I want to say this. To all those who have insulted me and called me all sorts of names, I have forgiven you. I forgive each and every one of you. No matter what name you have used against me, no matter the stones you have thrown, I stand here at the Jesus Winner altar and say, may God forgive you, for I have also forgiven you. But I leave it all to God. I know exactly who was behind it. I was aware.”
The pastor, who recently met President William Ruto at State House, also noted that he had personally witnessed some of the protesters gathered outside his church and revealed that some had already been arrested.
He, however, stated that he had intervened to have them released, emphasising that he and his congregation are peace-loving people who do not believe in responding with hostility.
“Even this morning, there were others who had been sent, some caught in the act with their mobile phones. But I have forgiven them—I even instructed that they be set free.”
Despite extending forgiveness, the bishop maintained that he had left those attacking him to be dealt with by God, asserting that as a powerful preacher, he was confident divine justice would prevail in due time.
He issued a stern warning to his critics, urging them to cease their relentless condemnation, cautioning that harsher consequences awaited them from God. He also vowed that no amount of backlash would deter him from carrying out his ministry.
According to him, those who had vowed to protest outside his church were not Gen Zs as claimed but rather hired hooligans, adding that he pitied them for unknowingly engaging in something far beyond their understanding.

“People will soon realise that there is a living God at this altar—the same God who answered prayers in Mombasa. They will come to know that heaven has a God who rules over all. As for the young people who have been misled, may God forgive them, because those outside are not our youth—they are crooks, some even disguised in Jesus Winner badges.
They have no idea what they are getting themselves into. Not a single one of them should be harmed—we stand for peace, for we are God’s people.”
Mwai, whose troubles began after President William Ruto’s visit to his Roysambu church on Sunday, March 2 2025, also defended himself against allegations, dismissing them as baseless lies.
He addressed claims regarding the Ksh20 million donation from Ruto and a second controversy surrounding a 20-acre parcel of land owned by his church in the rapidly developing municipality, asserting that the accusations of land grabbing were entirely false.
“Please, take a step back and reflect. Sometimes, you people overreact. Even those who accused me of stealing land—I have forgiven them. I was being misrepresented online, with claims circulating that I had received an official letter about it. One day, they will come to realise that God is real. And one thing is certain—someone who never knew me before now knows exactly who I am.”
