Azimio leader Raila Odinga lands in Windhoek, Namibia for the state funeral of the late President Hage Geingob.
In a statement via X on Sunday, February 25, Raila said he will attend the state funeral of the late Namibian President Hage Geingob.
“In Windhoek, to bid our final farewells at the state funeral of His Excellency Hage Geingob, the President of Namibia,” said Raila.
He added, “Reflecting on the enduring legacy of a leader and the significance of honoring those who have shaped our continent’s collective journey.”
The Namibian President will be buried at the Namibia Heroes’ Acre monument.
Raila is in the company of Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua.
Geingob died on February 4 at Lady Pohamba Hospital where he was receiving medical treatment from his medical team.
The late Namibian President was on January 8 diagnosed with cancer and traveled to the US on January 31 for treatment.
Geingob was serving his second term as the Namibian President, assuming office in 2015.

Before becoming president Geingob served as the country’s prime minister.
President William Ruto on Saturday joined high-ranking dignitaries from Africa in attending a memorial service in honour of President Geingob.
“Africa has lost a progressive leader whose powerful voice for a more united continent will never peter out,” Ruto said in a statement.
Other African leaders who attended the service include; Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, South African President Cyril Ramaposa, Angola’s João Lourenço, Botswana’s Mokgweetsi Masisi, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, among others.
