Several former Cabinet Secretaries who worked for the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta have maintained a friendly relationship even after leaving office.
Many Cabinet Secretaries reportedly spend their free time strengthening their family ties, according to former ICT CS Joe Mucheru.
The cabinet secretaries host private gatherings and even throw their own events that are rarely covered by the media.
They get together for business meetings and dining out in addition to playing golf while they reminisce about their time in government.
“Last weekend (between December 16-18), we were in Naivasha, where Matiang’i’s son was getting married. Quite a few of us went there, and it was a very good affair,” Mucheru told Citizen TV on Sunday, December 25.
“It is nice to see that we can now start dealing with family projects, and I think those kinds of friendships will last for life now,” he added.
Without revealing names, Mucheru added that former CSs have their own caucus, which convenes at golf courses and reclusive restaurants for games.
“Some of us have actually formed a caucus and we go to different clubs to play golf,” Mucheru insisted.

Along with having fun, Uhuru’s former Cabinet Secretaries also support one another by sharing their various business ventures and investing strategies.
Their gatherings also include sightseeing and dining outings.
Their gatherings, though, are characterized by rigid regulations. Members who attend private events are not permitted to invite the media as they did while serving in the government.
Without the approval of other Cabinet Secretaries, their photographs and conversational details are also not made public.
They also hardly ever talk about their tenure, including successes and failings.
“We don’t think too much about the past. We just sit back and enjoy the peace,” Mucheru insisted.
