Interior CS Kithure Kindiki confirms police raid on the son of President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta’s Karen home.

Kindiki, in a statement released on Friday night, July 21, stated that the operation targeted three homes in the Karen neighbourhood,

The CS said 23 firearms were recovered from three homes during the operation.

He, however in his statement did not refer to the alleged raid at Uhuru’s son’s home.

“These civilian firearms and crude weapons are credibly suspected to have been used to harm law enforcement personnel and civilians alike during the violence that has been experienced recently.

“While the Police have intensified their crackdown on the criminal gang leaders who have been commanding criminals to reign terror on the public, the law enforcement agencies have rolled out a nationwide operation, pursuant to their mandate of regulation, control, and management of civilian firearm holders to ensure that those licensed to possess weapons abide by the relevant laws,” Kindiki stated.

The CS said the operation will continue to recover all guns from persons suspected of having availed them to violent protesters and to other persons for other illegal activities.

His statement comes after reports indicated that a group of suspected police officers raided the home of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son, Jomo Kenyatta.

Uhuru, while addressing a press conference at the son’s Karen home, hinted that the alleged raid could have been over weapons.

“How many people in Kenya have licensed weapons even foreigners? Si we followed the procedure. So you withdrew their security so they are not supposed to defend themselves? What more do you want now?” Uhuru asked in his press address.

A visibly furious Uhuru lashed out at Ruto accusing him of waging a needless political war against him.

“The fact that I have been silent doesn’t mean I am scared. Come for me. What does my mother have to do with anything? What does my son have to do with anything? The former president remarked.
