Kivutha pours cold water on Kalonzo's presidential ambitions, 'you always behave like colonial chiefs'

Kalonzo's presidential ambitions attract mixed reactions with Kivutha Kibwana targeting him ahead of his BIG announcement

Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions attract mixed reactions with Kivutha Kibwana targeting him ahead of his BIG announcement.

On January 1, the former governor of Makueni County threw cold water on Kalonzo’s anticipated major statement that might reshape the political landscape of the nation before the elections of 2027.

The Wiper leader, according to the former governor, is a regional kingpin who’s living in Raila Odinga’s shadow.

Prof. Kivutha, who joined President William Ruto following the August polls, stated that Kalonzo must sever relations with Raila and the entire Azimio outfit in order for his anticipated declaration to have any political impact.

“Kalonzo’s statement would be impactful if it involved him suspending Azimio’s membership.”

“Raila is not about to retire and in the unlikely case that he endorsed Kalonzo, it is questionable if that would have any impact,” Kivutha remarked in a statement.

Kivutha asked Kalonzo to return to his Ukambani backyard and speak with his community before making a fresh political move after cutting ties with Raila.

“Kalonzo has for a long time behaved like colonial chiefs who only advanced their own interests when in power.”

“To change that, Kalonzo has to involve his community’s interests when making a political move,” Kivutha advised the former vice president.

Kivutha further sounded a warning to Kalonzo and the Lower Eastern region political bloc.

“If Kalonzo is not calculative, the Kamba community will only be liberated the day Kalonzo fades out of Kenya’s political scene,” Kivutha warned.

Kivutha’s statement comes after Kitui senator Enoch Wambua on December 31, 2022, announced that Kalonzo was to begin countrywide campaign tours in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.

“We will start moving across the country to ensure that Kenyans begin familiarizing themselves with the idea of a Kalonzo presidency,” the senator stated.

The Wiper party further called on Raila to shelve his political ambitions and instead support Kalonzo Musyoka.
