Luo Council Of Elders Chairman, Odungi Randa mourns their son’s death who is suspected to have died through suicide.
The family of Odungi Randa, the newly appointed Chairman of the Luo Council of Elders, is mourning the untimely passing of his son, Obote Randa.
The deceased in his late 40s is reported to have consumed a substance used in painting after an altercation with his father.
It is reported that he got drunk on the Eve of Christmas and got rowdy at their rural home in Nyando Sub County.
“He was very wild and chasing everybody in the compound, threatening to kill all,” said a witness.
His dad then confronted him and at one point threatened him to have arrested by the police.
“It’s at that point that he went to his house for the night. He lives alone,” the witness added.

In the morning, he was found unconscious in his house, with an empty bottle of the substance the family suspected he had taken.
He was rushed to Ahero sub-county hospital where he died today while undergoing treatment.
The body was then moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examinations.
The death of the son comes after Mr. Odungi was last week coronated as the 8th Ker of the Luo community, a position he’s holding despite a splinter group by Nyandiko Onga’di also claiming the position.
The event was presided over by Raila Odinga, the patron of the Council.
