Police launch investigations after a man hacks brother to death in Mbooni, Makueni County.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his brother in a village in Makueni County.

According to a police report, the man is also said to have seriously injured his 75-year-old mother in the scuffle.

The incident happened in the Kimani/Syiluni village Kiini sub-location on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect had reportedly differed with his brother Dominic Kyalo Kioko aged 27 over an unknown reason and attacked him with a sharp object.

The body of the deceased was found lying on the shamba about 100 metres from their homestead with several deep cuts on his head and right hand.

The deceased’s face was covered with blood with deep cuts.

It was further established that the deceased’s mother tried to restrain the suspect from the attack and in the process she sustained a deep cut on her right-hand finger.

She raised an alarm and villagers responded and restrained the suspect.

Police said a sharp blood-stained panga and a blood-stained grey khaki trouser were recovered from the suspect’s house.

The body was removed to the Mbooni West subcounty hospital morgue awaiting a postmortem examination.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigations over the incident.
