Muslim leaders call for sacking of Education CS George Magoha Over Al Shabaab remarks on NTV Journalist

Education CS George Magoha is under fire over his remarks on an NTV Journalist with calls to have him sucked for his reckless utterances.

George Magoha, the cabinet secretary for education, has come under fire from the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) over comments he made about an NTV journalist.

On Tuesday, July 26, SUPKEM officials led by Hassan Ole Naado called out the CS and accused him of racial profiling the female journalist during a news conference at Jamia Mosque.

According to SUPKEM, Magoha’s views violated the constitution’s guarantee of her right to freedom of religion.

“We are concerned about profiling a female reporter by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.

“In this unfortunate incident captured and broadcast in a video, the CS is seen targeting, discriminating, and verbally attacking the young Muslim lady journalist based on her religion and referring to her as representing a terrorist organization,” Naado explained.

The Muslim leaders asked the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action against the CS.

They further asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack CS Magoha following the remarks.

Education CS George Magoha allegedly made the remarks while inspecting the second phase of CBC junior classrooms in Nairobi.

During the event, the female Muslim reporter covered in Hijab posed a question to Magoha, who, instead of answering, demanded to know where she came from and whether she was representing the Al Shabaab.

“First of all, where do you come from? Who are you representing? Because if you are representing Al Shabaab, I will not answer you,” the CS was captured saying.

NTV is a good station, so I will answer you,” Magoha stated following a response from the journalist.
