On Monday, July 25, the CEO of Seamless Technologies attacked DCI director George Kinoti in an interview with NTV, accusing him of giving incomplete information about his involvement in the case.
Mohamed asserted that once the three were taken into custody, he approached the DCI and provided documentation outlining the connection between his business, the IEBC, and Smartmatic.
“When the saga broke out, I recorded statements with the DCI and gave all corresponding documents that pointed to the working relations between Smartmatic, IEBC, the Venezuelan nationals and Seamless technologies.
“I am surprised that they chose to share partial information with the public that has since turned me into a person of interest,” he stated.
Mohamed explained that Smartmatic had sub-contracted him to carry out work for the electoral body, adding that the revelation by Kinoti had put his life in danger.
And Seamless CEO Abdullahi Mohamed now says that the move by the DCI to share his private information with the public has put his life at risk.
“Having cooperated with the DCI, I am surprised that the DCI chose to share partial information with the public that has since turned me into a person of interest.”
In his statement following the arrest of the three Venezuelans at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kinoti claimed the three foreigners were in the country on the invite of the Seamless CEO and not IEBC.
“It is clear that the three were in Kenya solely for business with Abdullahi Mohamed, applying for his personnel who he had contracted to come to his office for work-related activities,” DCI wrote.
However, IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati insisted that the three were the commission’s staff. He also explained the connection between Smartmatic and Seamless Tech.
