Features to consider when buying an Android or/and iOS smartphone
Android or/and iOS smartphone features to consider
Phone brands are often guilty of over-selling their phones and therefore, choosing a great phone at the right price can be a daunting task, especially in this age with so many brands.
Therefore, it’s crucial that you are aware of the right questions to ask and the specific things to look for when buying a mobile phone.
Features to check
Android or iOS smartphone
Which smartphone you wish to purchase, an Android or an iOS model should be the first thing to decide on.
The bigger majority of smartphones use an Android operating system while iPhones use iOS.
iOS is more restrictive than Android and has fewer system permissions.
Android is available to more manufacturers including Samsung, LG, Tecno, etc.
Users can customize their phones more easily although iOS users find it easier to integrate with other devices.
You should also ensure that the Android version on your smartphone is the latest.
Android has started rolling out Android 13, and most phones will be able to update to 1-2 other android versions.
Apple products are now on iOS 15, and this year the company will release iOS 16. iOS 14 is supported on various models starting from iPhone 6 upwards.
Screen size
You use your phone mostly through its screen, so choose one that feels comfortable in your hand and allows you to browse through it easily.
For a clearer text and crisper images, choose an LCD or LED display panel with a high resolution of about 1080×1080 megapixels.
Check also the refresh rate of the screen. Most manufacturers now offer about 90Hz or 120Hz on mid-range phones.
The phone’s processor
The performance of the phone also depends on its CPU.
For various cellphones, the market offers a variety of processors. SnapDragon 600/700 series, MediaTek G, and MediaTek dimensity series are a few good ones for mid-range phones.
Go for 5G-enabled chipsets like the Dimensity 700 and 800 series and the SnapDragon 765G and 750G if you need 5G support.
Storage/RAM
More apps, images, and software downloads mean we need more internal storage.
Running a number of functions, playing games, and accessing resources call for more RAM.
To be on the safe side, look for a phone with 128GB and above in internal memory and 6GB/8GB RAM.
Camera
The phone’s camera is one of the most important features to look for. Many smartphones now offer quad and triple-lens cameras, which is a quality feature.
The quality of your pictures or movies is determined by the pixels, thus you should pay more attention to them.
A superb triple-lens camera should feature a main camera that is either 48MP or 64MP in resolution and an 8MP UltraWide lens.
A minimum of 5MP would be present in every micro/macro lens. Any 2MP lens on your phone is just a marketing gimmick with no practical use.
For high-quality photographs, your selfie/front camera should have roughly 8MP.
Phone Battery
If you want to use your phone for a longer period of time, the battery is also crucial.
For optimal performance, your phone’s battery should have a 4,500 MHz or 5,000 MHz frequency.
