Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced a free training programme for vulnerable families within the city.

In a statement dated Monday, October 28, the governor revealed that the county government had partnered with various institutions to offer the short courses.

The aim of the programme is to equip the targeted families with skills that can be used to generate income.

Some of the courses that will be offered include computer skills, catering, graphic design, electrical installation and plumbing.

Carpentry, digital marketing, and beauty and hairdressing were also listed as some of the courses being offered in the free programme.

“This is an opportunity for all. If you are a Nairobi resident from a vulnerable family, this initiative could be your chance to learn a new trade,” the governor stated.

How to apply

Those who are needy and are interested in the programme were advised to visit the site:  freeacademy.iyfkenya.org.

All interested applicants were advised to register for the initiative whose registration window closes on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1 PM.

“Selected applicants will have the opportunity to attend training at various Nairobi-based colleges,” read the statement in part.
