Baraza noted that the next three days after the start of the Safari in Nairobi on Thursday will be characterized by movement of rally, pedestrian, and passenger traffic.

He said: ‘Police officers will be deployed along the entire route to ensure the safety of participants and road users as from 29th of March to 1st April. Parking of lorries and trucks by the roadside at especially at Mai Mahiu and Kikopey will not be allowed and alternate parking will be provided.”

The FIA World Rally Championship Safari will be held between March 28 to 31. It will traverse Nairobi and Naivasha regions bringing back the world beaters in the world’s toughest motor rally fixture.

Baraza said motorists headed towards Nyanza and Western and North Rift are advised to use the Narok route through Mai Mahiu.

He added: “Motorists heading towards Nakuru from Central Kenya are advised to divert at Thika then proceed all the way via Safaricom Foundation route through to Olakalau, Njambini, and Lanet as they proceed to their destination.”

Baraza also added that other routes that will be secured will include the Service Park, Hells Gate and any other spectator spots.

He added that access to Service at the Wildlife Institute will strictly be reserved for rally drivers and other authorized persons with entry passes.
