ODM Leader Oburu Odinga travels to Dubai for a 3-day trip

ODM party leader Oburu Oginga is out of the country on a refreshment trip in Dubai.

The 81-year-old flew to Dubai, with his close relatives, to allay the concerns raised over the purpose of the trip.

A section of the media quoted Oburu's sister, Ruth Odinga, as having confirmed that her elder brother was indeed out of the country.

Ruth, who is Kisumu County woman representative, reportedly divulged that Oburu was out to relax and refresh himself after weeks of heavy responsibilities after leading the larger Odinga family in the funeral of their prominent kin, the late Raila Odinga, and thereafter taking over the leadership of ODM and leading it through its activity-packed anniversary celebrations in Mombasa.

An X account linked to Oburu also sent a tweet confirming the Siaya senator was out of the country, suggesting he was in good state of health.

"Feeling grateful for good health and high spirits. Taking a short sabbatical to recollect, recharge, and reset," it read.

The post got the approval of his son, Jaoko Oburu, who reposted it.

This would be Oburu's first trip out of the country ever since the death of his younger brother, Raila.

Raila died in India on October 15. He took his last breath at Devamatha Hospital in Southern India, where medics strove to resuscitate him after suffering a heart attack.

He was having his routine morning walk when he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Devamatha, the nearest medical facility.
