President Ruto revokes appointment of Consolidated Bank Board chair

President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of Charles Muriuki Njagagua as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Consolidated Bank of Kenya.

Ruto revoked Njagagua’s appointment from the board in a gazette notice dated Friday, October 3, 2025.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act,

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, revokes the appointment of Charles Muriuki Njagagua as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited, with effect from the 3rd October, 2025,” read the notice.

Meanwhile, the head of State appointed Njagagua to be a Senior Advisor, Legislative Affairs at the Office of the President.

Taking to his Facebook account on Monday, October 6, Njagagua thanked the president for entrusting him with the role.

“I wish to sincerely thank His Excellency, the President, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, for appointing me as the Senior Advisor, Legislative Affairs, Office of the President.

He noted that he looks forward to contributing effectively to the realization of the country’s national goals under President Ruto’s leadership.

Njagagua previously served as a Member of Parliament for Mbeere North Constituency from 2017 to 2022.

He lost the parliamentary seat to current Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku in the 2022 general elections.
