Raila accuses Ruto of duping Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula on 30 percent of state appointments

Raila accuses Ruto of duping Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula on 30 percent of state appointments.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has accused President William Ruto of going against his agreement with Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula.

Raila claimed that Ruto had bulldozed his Kenya Kwanza Alliance co-principals in order to control the government after lying to them.

The ODM leader alleged that the head of state was in charge of a government that prioritized ethnicity above other tribes when making appointments to positions of power.

“He lied to Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula that they will get 30% of the government; where is it? Luhyas are fired from the government and they are replaced by one tribe, but all Kenyans file their taxes. One or two tribes cannot run Kenya,” Raila said.

Raila was speaking in Bungoma county where he vowed to oppose the Finance Bill 2023 saying it was going to be a burden to the already overburdened Kenyans.

“The price of everything is up and we cannot continue to live like this as the government continues to pile more taxes on us,” he said amid cheers in Bungoma.

In addition, the Azimio leader threatened the return of street protests should the finance bill 2023 pass, with Kalonzo Musyoka saying the bill will worsen an already deteriorated economy.

Raila’s statement on tribal appointments comes after Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit of the Anglican Church of Kenya criticized President Ruto’s administration over recent state appointments.

Sapit accused the government of appointing people from specific communities to state jobs.

“There is glaring tribalism and cronyism, particularly with regard to public appointments. There is an apparent lack of accountability and transparency in our institutions,” he said.
