Raila tells Kenyans to brace themselves for a higher cost of living under the Ruto Presidency
Raila tells Kenyans to brace themselves for a higher cost of living under the Ruto Presidency adding life will be unbearable.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga has warned Kenyans to prepare for increasing living costs, claiming that the next three months will be intolerable under President William Ruto’s rule.
On October 11, during a meeting with Bunge la Wananchi at Jevanjee grounds, Raila asserted that despite announcing a number of measures to protect Kenyans, Ruto would find it difficult to explain why the cost of living had not decreased during that time.
He stated that the President will not be given the opportunity to place the responsibility on his predecessor, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, as he did in the run-up to the elections on August 9.
“We will give them 100 days and wait and see what they will do. They used to blame Uhuru, and yet the former president was facing the same challenges as world leaders.
“These challenges are the reasons why Uhuru had so many subsidies. They have removed them saying it will be unsustainable,” he stated.
In the Tuesday meeting, Raila was accompanied by ODM MPs Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), and Caleb Hamisi ( Saboti), who echoed Raila’s sentiments.
“We are giving them those 100 days. We are silent right now but do not think that we are stupid. They promised that they will do these things in those days. If we speak now, they will say it is too early,” Hamisi reiterated.
Nonetheless, he called on his supporters to remain calm, promising to keep the government in check.
“I have not given up. The times when we were scared of Nyayo are over. All these people stole our victory. Their days are numbered and you will see it. Just be patient,” he stated.
