Raila would be president if he listened

Raila should blame himself for failing to capture the presidency according to Azimio Coalition presidential chief agent, Saitabao Kanchory
Raila should blame himself for failing to capture the presidency according to Azimio Coalition presidential chief agent, Saitabao Kanchory.
Kanchory has alleged that some powerful people surrounding Raila Odinga are the ones to blame for the election loss.
In an interview with Spice FM, Kanchory claimed his advice to the Azimio leader – would have been useful for the coalition to clinch the presidency– but was ignored.
He said initially when he was picked to join Azimio’s presidential election team, he shared his ideas only for things to change afterward.
“With time, my voice of reason was overruled by the other better-placed advisers and that is why we are in this mess. If Baba listened to me, he would be the president and in State House right now as we speak, and he knows that,” Kanchory said.
“I was right on 99.9 percent of the things I told him,” he added.
Kanchory said his access to Raila Odinga was limited by the people around him. The same people, he said, are the ones who were to decide the people who would meet with the Azimio leader.

The Azimio chief agent also said he is now writing a book reflecting on the last presidential race.
“The first person who needs to read that book is Baba because I have dedicated eight chapters to him and I think he will cry when he reads that book,” Kanchory said.
Kanchory had earlier claimed that ODM only listened to one person, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.
“We could not have lost this election if it weren’t for three people. The first one is Junet Mohamed, the second is Joe Mucheru and the third is Makau Mutua. These are people I have worked with and respect but in terms of responsibility, they take the highest responsibility,” he said on NTV.
According to Kanchory, Junet ran a one-man show and the former Prime minister sided with everything he said, even when he could clearly see it was wrong.
“The only person Raila would listen to without question was Junet. Even if you had truth and you told Raila and Junet comes with darkness, Raila would side with Junet,” he said.
“Junet Mohamed is one man who purported to know everything and he nullified everything everyone said and also made sure he kept people who could have helped Raila at arm’s length. He ensured nobody came close to Raila who would have helped him.”
