The remains of former KVDA managing director Tubei discovered buried in a shallow grave a few metres away from his palatial home 12 years later.
The presumed remains of Eng. Silvanus Tubei, the former managing director of the Kerio Valley Development Authority, have been discovered.
Twelve years ago, Tubei vanished from his home after having his concubine serve him breakfast.
The blanket-covered remains were found buried in a shallow grave beside a flower garden a short distance from his opulent residence.
On September 26, 2012, early in the morning, Tubei vanished from his residence in Kabiemit village, Chepkurmum, Tumeiyo location in Keiyo south sub-county.
A gardener stumbled on a blanket buried while trying to dig out of the ground and discovered a complete adult human skeleton.
The clothes the deceased wore the morning he disappeared matched those inside the blanket and the skeleton, prompting a distress call by the family.
Albert Tubei, the deceased nephew, said they were almost sure the remains were those of their kin.
Officers from the DCI secured the area, marked it as a crime scene, and asked the family of Tubei to protect it until an order from the court was secured to have it exhumed.
Investigators would be looking for DNA to confirm if it matches that of Tubei and establish the circumstances under which he lost his life.
In December 2012, a woman, the deceased, who was cohabiting with him was marked as present when he disappeared.

However, she couldn’t be charged since there was no evidence of her involvement with the disappearance of Tubei.
Tumeiyo location Chief Joseph Cheboi said everything had been left for the police to carry out investigations.
“The file had been open since he went missing, and hopefully, the investigation will now continue and have the murders and their accomplices brought to book,” Cheboi said.
Tubei oversaw the construction of the multibillion-dollar Turkwel Dam, in which KVDA was the implementing agent and the construction of the corporation’s 14-storey towering headquarters in Eldoret.
A number of people, among them the deceased concubine, had been apprehended months after he went missing and his mobile phone traced to someone else.
