Gachagua was among the leaders gracing the ordination of Bishop Peter Kimani to the Catholic Diocese of Embu.
Others in attendance at the University of Embu grounds were former president Uhuru Kenyatta, President William Ruto and his deputy Kithure Kindiki.
At the function, Gachagua seemed sidelined, only to be occasionally recognised and mentioned by Catholic bishops who rose to address the faithful.
He sat in a far-off tent away from the one hosting the VVIPs.
Neither was he granted the opportunity to address the congregants.
Despite all the apparent snubs, Gachagua was redeemed of the moment when the residents applauded him when Archbishop Anthony Muheria recognised him.

Muheria took it upon himself to mention the presence of Gachagua, which attracted wild cheers and applause from the crowd.’
“I would also like at this moment to recognise our former deputy president, who is also here,” said Muheria, this attracting ululations that buried the cleric’s speech, prompting him to calm them down.
Reacting to that scene, Gachagua implied it translated to the love the people have for him.
“Thank you so much, the people of Embu, for the love and warm reception. I love you too,” Gachagua said via X.
