Rigathi Gachagua hints at working with Fred Matiang’i
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hinted at a possible alliance with several prominent leaders, including former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
Speaking on Tuesday, April 15, Gachagua revealed that talks are underway to form a united political front aimed at charting a new path for the country.
“We have listened to Kenyans who have said we come together and form a government that would take the country forward.
“I’m doing that with Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya and Fred Matiang’i. I want to assure the people of Kenya that we have a formula to give you good leadership,” he said.
This comes a day after Gachagua announced the formation of a new political party which is said to be launched soon.
Speaking in Ngong Town on Sunday, April 13, Gachagua said the party’s main agenda will be unseating President William Ruto and his allies from power.
“We have formed a new political party that we will use to remove President William Ruto and his allies from power; I will officially launch the party in May. If I invite you to the launch, will you come?” he said.
Notably, the declaration comes months after the Jubilee Party endorsed Matiang’i as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Saturday, January 25, during a meeting with local Jubilee leaders in Narok County, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni noted that Matiang’i will bear the party’s flag in a bid to unseat Ruto.
Kioni urged the leaders to start mass grassroots registration of Jubilee party members to ensure that Matiang’i clinches the top seat.
“Fred Matiang’i is the one they are saying is in jubilee. He worked with the party for 10 years. So, we as the Jubilee party have our own candidate, Fred Matiang’i. He will face off with other candidates to ensure President William Ruto goes home. You have to start registrations and send the message to the people and we don’t want fights,” he remarked.
Kioni stated that the party wanted a candidate from a minority community to lead the nation.
He explained that the Mt. Kenya region has previously supported a minority candidate and that it was time again to support a candidate from a minority community.
“We want a candidate from a minority community. Let us be united and cast our vote in one basket. The other time we voted for Ruto and others voted for Raila Odinga. Even this round we will also vote in a candidate from a minority community,” he added.
