Robert Bierenbaum; I killed my wife and threw her out plane over the Atlantic Ocean

Robert Bierenbaum confessed he was ‘immature’ after killing her wife and throwing the body out of the plane, into the Atlantic Ocean

A former plastic surgeon convicted on circumstantial evidence of killing his wife finally gave a confession that stunned prosecutors.

Robert Bierenbaum admitted he threw his wife’s body out of an airplane and into the ocean nearly three decades ago during a parole hearing in December 2020.

Bierenbaum, now 66, convicted of the murder in 2000 under circumstantial evidence, had continually denied any involvement in her death, told parole that he killed his wife Gail Katz in 1985.

He said it was because he was “immature” and couldn’t “deal with his anger.”

“I wanted her to stop yelling at me and I attacked her,” according to a transcript of the hearing obtained by ABC News.

Bierenbaum, who is an experienced pilot, said he “strangled” his wife and then “went flying.”

“I opened the door and then took her body out of the airplane over the ocean,” the transcript read.

His wife’s body, Gail Katz has never been found.

The confession comes after his wife, Gail Katz, went missing in 1985 in Manhattan.

Beirenbaum maintained his innocence after her disappearance and was not charged with murder until 2000.

Dan Bibb, one of the prosecutors on the case, told ABC, “I was stunned because I always thought that that day would never come, that he would own up, take responsibility for having killed his wife.”

The authorities believed Robert Bierenbaum spent hours dismembering Katz’s body before taking a plane out over the ocean and dumping the body between Montauk Point, New York, and Cape May, New Jersey.

“I was like ‘Holy shit are you kidding me?'” Dan Bibb, a former Manhattan assistant district attorney who prosecuted Bierenbaum in 2000, said.

Bibb continued: “The Bierenbaum story when you get right down to it is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde… this guy was a psychopath.”
