Ruto announces 11,000 job vacancies for Nairobi youths during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium.

President William Ruto announced 11,000 job opportunities for Nairobi youth on Monday, December 12, in place of the defunct Kazi Mtaani project.

During the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium, Ruto stated that the youth would be part of a green army formed to realize the dream of increasing tree cover in Nairobi county.

The program would be a collaborative effort with the county government of Nairobi, under the leadership of Governor Johnson Sakaja.

“We will work with the government of Nairobi towards the greening of our city. Sakaja and I have agreed to hire 11,000 young people; those that were working under the old Kazi Mtaani, ” Ruto remarked.

The president urged other county executives to participate in the program, which is part of the government’s plan to increase tree cover in the country.

Ruto also directed the Ministry of Interior to collaborate with the 45,000 local administrators, including Nyumba Kumi chairpersons, to ensure that the goal is met.

He reiterated the state’s goal of planting 15 billion trees across the country to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Ruto revealed that he had discussions with Meta about how the youth could earn money from their creativity while appreciating the talent among the youth and the power of content creation.

“I have spoken directly to Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram, to monetize content for our digital entrepreneurs that will exponentially multiply incomes and create employment opportunities for others.

“I am impressed and encouraged by the power of monetization and remote jobs. This is the way to the future,” he remarked.
