President William Ruto announces Kazi Mtaani (Climate Work Mtaani) will return in the next one month.
President William Ruto on Saturday revealed a timeline for reinstating the Kazi Mtaani programme after Kisumu residents demanded to know the Head of State’s official position on the matter.
The Head of State while speaking at a rally in Kondele, Kisumu County, assured the residents that he would revive the project in the next one month.
President Ruto called on the locals to prepare themselves and register for the programme which he claimed would help reduce unemployment in the country.
“I want to assure the youths that Kazi Mtaani will be activated in the next one month so prepare adequately,” President Ruto commented.
During Ruto’s visit to the county, a section of the locals from the citizens’ assembly popularly known as the Bunge la Wananchi approached the president, urging him to reinstate the programme.
“On behalf of the Citizens Assembly, we are pleased with you. Bring back Kazi Mtaani programme as quickly as possible,” pleaded one of the residents.
“During Uhuru’s time, the payment was Ksh700 but we request you raise it to Ksh1,000 per day,” claimed the local.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of President Ruto’s decision to rebrand the Kazi Mtaani to Climate Work Mtaani.

The Head of State who spoke during the National Youth Service (NYS) pass-out ceremony in Gilgil, Nakuru County, on Monday, August 26 said the initiative would be managed by the National Youth Service (NYS) officers.
“I want to also announce that NYS will be supervising the cohort of young people that we will be recruiting under our climate work Mtaani initiative,” Ruto announced.
President Ruto underscored the significance of rebranding the initiative clarifying that the programme would majorly address climate change through proactive measures.
“This program is designed to bring more young people into the space of greening Kenya, managing our environmental sustainability, and making sure that we respond to matters of climate change using the climate action initiatives that we have in place,” said President Ruto.
