President Ruto teases National Assembly Leader of Majority, Kimani Ichung’wah for greeting him while pocketing.

There was a light moment at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where President William Ruto seemed to lightly confront Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah over some etiquette.

The lawmaker had, on the evening of Thursday, June 14, accompanied other ranking government officials to see off the president, who was departing the country for Italy and Switzerland trip.

In a communique on Thursday, June 13, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed stated the head of state would attend the G7 Summit in Puglia.

He explained that after Italy, Ruto would head to Switzerland for the inaugural summit on peace in Ukraine.

Ruto disembarked from his vehicle to greet DP Gachagua and other government officials who had lined themselves up when he came across Ichung’wah, who had pocketed his left hand.

The president approached him and exchanged pleasantries, with Ichung’wah’s hand still in the pocket.

President Ruto posed for a moment and seemed to be chiding the lawmaker, who quickly unpocketed his hand; this as they joked and laughed about it.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Leader of Majority, Kimani Ichung’wah has been enjoying a camaraderie with the president since he took over power two years ago.

In the Mt Kenya region, the lawmaker has been top of the president’s trusted pointmen.

His allegiance to the president led to him earning the Leader of the Majority post in the National Assembly.
