President Ruto makes new state appointments sending home more of former President Uhuru Kenyatta appointees.

President William Ruto in his latest appointments pushed out more appointees of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in state corporations.

Through a gazette notice dated May 18, Ruto revoked the appointment of Eng. Joshua Toro as chairperson of the National Irrigation Authority Board. He will be replaced by Eng. Gilbert Maluki.

He also revoked the appointment of L. Arch. Robert M. Kariuki as chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, replacing him with former Sports CS Rashid Echesa.

President Ruto further revoked the appointments of Julius Bakasa Wasike, Oliver Aganya, John Masaba, Anne Desma C. Chilande and Zipporah Kaari Matasi as members of the Lake Victoria North Works Development Agency.

They were replaced by John Imoite who will serve as chairperson until August 2023.

Petronilla Were, Abraham Cheruiyot, Eng. Butichi Khamisi and Daniel O. Achach will also serve as members of the LVNWDA Board.

In other changes, Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u revoked the appointments of Victor Pratt and Reuben Ndegwa as Board members of the Policyholders Compensation Fund.

They were replaced by Simon Mbugua (chairman) and Tiberious Shikuku.

Pratt, originally from Liberia and a nephew of William Tubman, is married to Uhuru’s sister Christine Wambui Kenyatta.

He served as the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) chairperson for six years before being mandated to head the Policyholders Compensation Fund.

Ndung’u also revoked the appointments of Annette Kithi, Muchiri Mithamo, Njenga Mwangi and Fauzia Arale as members of the e Insurance Regulatory Authority.

The changes come even as President Ruto reorganises his government in efforts to deliver his agenda for Kenya.
