Ruto inducted into the American Academy of Achievement at a Golden Plate Award ceremony held in Washington.
The American Academy of Achievement inducted President William Ruto on Friday, December 16, at a Golden Plate Award event in Washington, D.C.
General Charles Q. Brown of the United States Air Force and Dr. Ben Carson, both members of the Awards Council, presented the Golden Plate Award in the State House.
The chairman of the Academy, Wayne Reynolds, praised President Ruto for his inspirational journey.
“From a village in Kenya, owning his first pair of shoes at the age of 15, rising through politics, studying to the highest level of academic achievement, and inspiring a generation in the art of what is possible, with hard work, faith, and determination,” Ruto was lauded.

Former US President Barack Obama, the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, millionaire Bill Gates, former South African president Nelson Mandela, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, and Sydney Portier are just a few of the accomplished individuals who President Ruto has joined.
Since 1961, the American Academy of Achievement has honored about 25 special visitors at the International Achievement Summit with the Golden Plate Award.
These men and women of exceptional achievement in the sciences, professions, business, industry, arts, literature, sports, entertainment and public service were chosen by the Academy’s Awards Council and other esteemed authorities. They are celebrated not as winners but as visionaries and achievers who stand in for the many others who excel.
The academy also brings together leaders with promising graduate students for mentorship.
It hosts an International Achievement Summit, which ends with an awards ceremony, during which new members are inducted into the academy.
