Ruto makes new appointments as he revokes those made by Uhuru

President Ruto makes new appointments to State corporations while at the same time making revocations made by his predecessor

President Ruto makes new appointments to State corporations while at the same time making revocations made by his predecessor.

In a gazette notice on Friday, Ruto named Elizabeth Chesang as the chairperson of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities.

Chesang will take over the position with immediate effect from June 23, 2023, till May 2, 2024. 

“The appointment of Peter Muchiri is revoked,” the notice added.

Sakwa Bunyasi was appointed the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Development Corporation.

He will serve for a period of three years effective Friday. 

Under the same, the appointment of Michael Nyachae has been revoked.

Following Sakwa’s appointment at Kenya Development Corporation, Ruto revoked his naming as the chairperson of the Kenya Vision 2030 Board. 

“In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 2 (f) of Gazette Notice No. 1386 of 2009, as read together with section 51 (1)of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-chief of the Defence Forces, revoke the appointment of Sakwa Bunyasi as chairperson of the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board,” the notice reads.

Further, Ruto appointed Geoffrey Mutai as the Non-Executive chairperson of Kenya Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council for a period of three years. 

The appointment of Ali Menza Mbogo was revoked.

At the Development Bank of Kenya Limited, Michael Nyachae will descend as the chairperson of the Board of Directors.

He will serve from Friday, June 23 for a period of three years. 

Peter Munyiri Maina is to be the chairperson of the National Standards Council from June 23 to January 19, 2026.

The appointment of Jeremiah Kamau Kinyua was revoked.

Under the Sports Act, the President appointed Peter Njuguna Gitau as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sports Kenya. 

He will serve from today to October 5, 2024. 

The appointment of Charles Waithaka was revoked.

In the same Gazette Notice, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has appointed former Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis as the Chairperson of the Kenya National Qualifications Authority.

Kiptis will serve for a period of three years with effect from June 23, 2023.
