On Wednesday, October 16, President William Ruto hosted American philanthropist Bill Gates at State House Nairobi, where they held talks on two areas of collaboration.
The President made it clear during the discussion that he wanted to work with the founder of Microsoft on the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program to provide accessible healthcare.
He continued by saying that he was eager to work with the billionaire to address the nation’s food security.
“We will continue to collaborate towards the realization of food security and universal health coverage in our country,” he stated.
In addition, Ruto thanked Bill Gates for various investments he had made in the country noting the transformations they were making in the lives of Kenyans.
“We appreciate the support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to extend to Kenya in realizing our development goals, especially in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, and ICT sectors,” Ruto stated.
Bill Gates arrived in the country on Tuesday, November 15, and toured Makueni county for engagements with farmers and healthcare workers.
Among programs Kenyans are set to benefit from the billionaire is a Ksh170 Billion funding pledge to address the ongoing climate change and drought in Africa.
