On Tuesday, April 9, Vincent Mogaka Kemosi stated that he would not be taking up the position of Kenyan High Commissioner to Ghana’s Accra.

Kemosi, who was scheduled to undergo a vetting process by Parliament on Tuesday, informed the National Assembly Clerk in writing that he was not accepting the position.

The former West Mugirango Member of Parliament stated in his letter that he was declining the assignment due to family matters.

“I want to give my appreciation for the invitation to appear before the Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations, I wish to inform that I will not appear before the said Committee for the approval,” his letter read in part.

“This has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration will not allow me to take up the position of High Commissioner to Ghana.”

In his letter, Mogaka further added that to save time for the vetting committee he would not avail himself in person to Parliament Buildings for the vetting exercise.

The National Assembly Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations accepted his decision not to appear before them and went on to vet other ambassadors and high commissioners nominated by the President.

Mogaka did not reveal if he had communicated his decision to reject the assignment to President William Ruto.

President William Ruto nominated Vincent Mogaka Kemosi as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Kenya on March 8.

Mogaka had lost his West Mugirango parliamentary seat in 2022 after vying using a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

In March 2023, Ruto appointed Mogaka as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) under the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.

Later that month took oath for the office but did not assume his CAS position after the court declared the whole process of nominating CASs unconstitutional.
