President William Ruto has offered an internship opportunity to a student who expressed her desire to work at the State House
President William Ruto has offered an internship opportunity to a student who expressed her desire to work at the State House.
Speaking during the centenary celebrations of TVET in Kenya, Nyeri National Polytechnic on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, President Ruto responded to the student’s request with encouragement and a promise of evaluation based on her performance after her internship.
After a one-on-one engagement with the president, one of the students majoring in hospitality asked for a chance to work at State House Nairobi, putting the president at a crossroads.
“I know in state house we have a hospitality department. It will be my pleasure if you would recognize me at least I work in the state house, as I do hospitality; catering, and accommodation,” she cornered the president amid laughter from her fellow students,” the student identified as Mwende requested.

President Ruto explained that it would be prudent if the student was offered a chance to prove her capability, after which she could be considered for an opportunity.
“Mwende, what I will do is I would want to see your performance. You will have to be good. So what we will do, is you will start as an intern so we can assess your performance. And coming from Nyeri Polytechnic, I am confident you will do well,” Ruto declared.
While exuding confidence that the student would fit the bill, the president charged his aides to take up the matter.
