Limuru Sub-County Police Commander dies in Kitui road accident after his car was involved in a head-on collision with a truck.
Limuru Sub County Police Commander Phillip Mwania passed away on Friday following his involvement in a fatal car accident.
The accident resulted in the death of the officer after his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
The officer was traveling home when the 11.30 p.m. event happened along the Kitui-Mutomo Highway, close to the Nzeeu River.
Kitui County Police Commander Leah Kithei confirmed the incident noting that despite the officer’s death, the truck driver emerged unscathed.

Limuru Member of Parliament John Kiragu while confirming the incident condoled with the family of the deceased.
“Unfortunately, we lost the Limuru Sub County Police commander(SCPC), Mr. Phillip Mwania in a tragic accident on his way from Kitui, yesterday” Kiragu stated.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace. My condolences to the family and friends,” he added.
Following the incident, Mwania’s body was moved to the Kitui County Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.
