Shame on You – Raila’s aide blasts Kenyans criticizing ODM-UDA pact

Prof Makau Mutua has called out Kenyans and leaders criticizing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for signing a deal with President William Ruto
Prof Makau Mutua has called out Kenyans and leaders criticizing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for signing a deal with President William Ruto.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 11, Mutua opined that most Kenyans criticizing Raila had no moral authority to do so because they had never supported his presidential bid.
According to Raila’s aide, those opposing the deal did not even support Raila in the 2022 General Election.
“Those attacking Raila Odinga for his MoU with William Ruto should shut up. These are the same people who’ve never voted for him in any election, including in 2022,” he wrote.
“Shame on them! How can someone you refused to marry cheat on you?”
After signing the deal between ODM and UDA, Raila received backlash from his Azimio counterparts, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
According to Kalonzo, Raila had betrayed them because he did not inform his colleagues in Azimio.

“There is betrayal all over, brother betraying brother, but very interesting betrayal is that of politicians,” Kalonzo stated.
However, in a rebuttal, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o dismissed the allegations, asking Kalonzo why he did not also inform them when he went to meet with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“Kalonzo’s discontent is that Azimio was left out. In that regard, therefore, Raila betrayed Azimio. In the meantime, the same Kalonzo has been meeting with all kinds of characters, including Rigathi Gachagua, without consulting us at all. But we never complained. We took it as his democratic right to do so,” Nyong’o expressed.
