The World Citizenship Report 2024 shows that wealthy investors perceive Tanzania and Uganda to be more safe than Kenya.
In the report released in November 2024, Kenya was ranked at position 121 with a score of 49.7 under the global ranking for safety and security.
Apart from security, the investors also considered climate change and food security in the ranking.
Meanwhile, Uganda was ranked at position 112 with a score of 52.7. Tanzania on the other hand was ranked at position 100 with a score of 55.7.
Other notable African countries perceived safer than Kenya were Rwanda (position 92) and Zambia (position 70).
“Beyond warfare, another concern around safety and security is climate change. Climate change can threaten global stability, potentially bringing about climate-induced migration, natural disasters, and food insecurity,” read the report in part.

“The top three countries for Safety and Security, according to the World Citizenship Index (WCI), are Iceland, Switzerland and Ireland. These countries are all known for having a robustly protected natural environment, and all sent representatives to COP-28 in 2023.”
Nonetheless, Kenya ranked higher in the economic opportunity and quality of life ranking.
“Our global survey of high-net-worth-individuals’ priorities indicated that ‘Quality of Life’ was the most important factor when considering citizenship for 36.9 percent of participants,” read the report in part.
“Monaco, Denmark, and Hong Kong took the top spots for Quality of Life in 2024, reflecting the high standard of living and wealth these jurisdictions can extend to all their citizens.”
