Truth Social, Donald Trump’s social media platform goes live and its available for download as users complain of huge wait-list to enter.
Truth Social, the new social networking platform launched by former US President Donald Trump, is now available for download on Apple’s App Store.
However, several people on Twitter complained about a long waiting list to join the service.
Following his removal from social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube in January 2021, the former US president took matters into his own hands, announcing last October that he would start his own platform.
The software, which is planned to launch on February 21 to coincide with Presidents’ Day, was made available to hundreds of beta testers on Friday.
Mr. Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr shared a screenshot of the site featuring his father promoting its anticipated release: “Get Ready! Your favourite President will see you soon!”
Users flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the app, with many claiming to have been placed on a waiting list after signing up owing to “huge demand.”
Apple is also said to have started sending customers messages and alerts that the app is now available for download.
Some customers also said that after downloading the program, they were unable to create an account.
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the former president’s new media and technology company, which is spearheading the app’s creation, has promised a “engaging and censorship-free experience” on the platform.
It’s unclear whether the app’s purpose of freedom of expression will be able to coexist with Apple and Google’s app store restrictions.
