TSC extends the deadline for 2023 teachers’ application by one week in the mass recruitment process.
The deadline for hiring teachers and teacher interns has been extended by an additional week by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The TSC CEO Nancy Macharia said on Saturday that the application deadline had been pushed out from December 16 to December 23.
Teachers will now have an extra week to submit their applications.
“The Teachers Service Commission has reviewed the roadmap for the recruitment of teachers and teacher interns. The deadline for submission of applications has been extended from December 16 to 23,” a tweet on the commission’s account read.

The commission plans to employ 10,000 of the teachers on permanent pensionable terms while 25,550 will be hired as intern teachers.
Macharia emphasized that 9,000 of the slots have been allocated for permanent secondary school teachers and 1,000 for primary school teachers, while 21,550 slots are for intern teachers for junior secondary schools.
The Commission said another 4,000 intern teachers will be hired for primary schools.
The recruitment of teachers is in line with a presidential directive issued in mid-October by President William Ruto.
