Tycoons financing Raila’s planned protest; Embu governor

Embu governor Cecily Mbarire threatens to reveal names of tycoons financing Raila planned protest rallies
Embu governor Cecily Mbarire threatens to reveal names of tycoons financing Raila planned protest rallies.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service in Kirinyaga in which Ruto was in attendance, the governor said a meeting was recently held in Mombasa where resources for Monday’s planned opposition rally were harnessed.
“I know the people who held a meeting in Mombasa to plan on how to bankroll Raila,” Mbarire said.
“I will soon name the people who are financing the opposition leader and, soon I will reveal their names.”
The Embu governor was reacting to reports that Raila has planned a big political rally at Nairobi’s Kamukunji to allegedly speak to a dossier on how the August 9 presidential polls were stolen.
“Raila is now in late 70s, he is a grandfather and must now know what is expected of him at his old age,” Mbarire said.
The governor asked President William Ruto not to be threatened by the planned opposition rallies and instead focus on development.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa has said Raila is holding protests as a result of panic over the IEBC tribunal.
He termed Monday’s rally by the opposition as diversionary and testimony of panic.
“It’s diversionary. The panic buttons are too many,” Ichung’wa said of Raila’s latest political moves.
“So now I hear Tinga wants to land, onto a rally at Kamukunji from wherever. Before I also land back from wherever, just wondering, Is it really Tinga or the Puppeteer who wants a distraction away from Chebukati’s testimony at the tribunal?” Ichung’wa posed.
