UDA affiliate party candidates convene crisis meeting over claims Ruto favouring UDA candidates

UDA affiliate party candidates convene crisis meeting over claims that the DP William Ruto is favouring UDA candidates.

Cracks have emerged in Kenya Kwanza alliance small parties in the coalition accuse Ruto of favouring aspirants from his UDA party.

The UDA affiliate party candidates sponsored by Chama cha Kazi and The Service Party of Kenya, (TSP) are frustrated after the UDA team campaigned for their candidates and denied others the opportunity to address the rallies.

The aspirants feel rejected in the Alliance and abandoned by individual party leaders.

The members have now convened a crisis meeting to find a way forward with a high possibility of a resolution to quit the Kenya Kwanza coalition on Tuesday.

In the Central Kenya region, TSP party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri has not recently joined the UDA national leaders and candidates in their political campaigns.

The biggest victim in Nyandarua during the DP’s tour was Speaker Wahome Ndegwa, who is running for Nyandarua Governorship.

Mr Wahome was openly frustrated and rejected by Moses Kuria, the leader of the Chama cha Kazi party, who urged voters to accept UDA candidate Dr Kiarie Badilisha.

Speaker Wahome was even denied the opportunity to speak at the rallies, reportedly at the request of his party’s leader, Mr Kuria, who is arranging similar public forums to hammer home the argument.

Mr Waithaka Kirika, the TSP Deputy Secretary-General who is also running for Nyandarua Governor, admits that the UDA has discriminated against candidates from other coalition parties, particularly in the Central Kenya region, and accuses the UDA party leadership of insincerity in the coalition, particularly in the Central and Western Kenya regions.

“What we have seen is UDA preaching water but drinking wine, everything about the Kenya Kwanza coalition is suspicious and they have no moral authority to accuse Azimio of insincerity,” said Mr Kirika.

“There is hypocrisy in all that UDA is doing, they cannot give conditions of 70 percent votes from Western Kenya to Senator Moses Wetangula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi yet the two leaders are expected to accompany the DP in his campaigns all over the country,”said Mr Kirika.
