UDA Governor dares Multinational investors to take their money to Rwanda, “We Don’t Care”

UDA Governor, Eric Mutai dares Multinational investors to take their money to Rwanda over claims of disrespect.

Kericho Governor and Ruto ally Eric Mutai has told off multinational firms in the tea sector to take their money to Rwanda over claims they disrespect residents.

Mutai mentioned issues faced by tea farmers and locals in Kericho as a result of multinational investors.

On October 20, during the 59th Mashujaa Day celebrations, Governor Mutai declared, “The enterprises should boost their local revenue and remove the machines in order to work together.”

“If you do not want to do business with us, you can leave for Rwanda like yesterday. We don’t care, because this tea is not helping us as it is now. You can leave if you want because you cannot blackmail and push us,” said Mutai, as recorded by the Standard.

As his government prepared to announce new investment contracts globally, the UDA Governor dared the corporations to leave.

The governor specifically asked that James Finlay, Unilever, and other county investors show respect for Kericho locals.

“Even if you leave, we can as well announce a new contract lease internationally, and we will get tea buyers and increase the rates at our own terms. I will ensure that our people get the best out of their resources,” he said.
