Ruto’s controversial Agriculture CS nominee, Mithika Linturi (with 35 cases) worthy, Sh1.2 billion

Agriculture CS nominee, Mithika Linturi declares before the vetting committee that his net worth is Sh1.2 billion.

On Friday, October 21, the former Meru Senator told the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments that he acquired his wealth through investment in commercial property, farming, and shares in SACCOs and publicly listed companies.

“My financial net worth is Sh1.2 billion, which I acquired through rental property, dairy farming, sukuma wiki farming, and shares in SACCOs, including the Parliamentarians SACCO,” Linturi told the committee led by Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Agriculture CS nominee, Mithika Linturi further said that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) owes him money for wrongful prosecution.

He further said he had offered services to the government and was yet to receive payment for the work done.

The controversial p[olitician disclosed that he hopes to receive in the future close to Ksh1 billion from the government and EACC

The Agriculture CS nominee also revealed that he is facing 35 civil cases in court.

He said this while responding to among the matters raised by the committee a case where Linturi was charged with attempted rape and the validity of his academic credentials.

The committee also questioned his alleged involvement in forgery to access loans.

“As I sit here, I have 35 cases in the court of civil nature, and the only criminal case is the attempted rape case,” Linturi confirmed.

The series of questions posed to the nominee appeared to have mounted pressure as he resorted to taking the committee through circles. His responses attracted the attention of Suna East legislator, Junet Mohammed, who humorously asked the speaker to calm down the nominee.

“I am sitting next to the nominee and to avoid the exercise escalating into a serious health crisis, Mr. Speaker, ask the nominee to breathe normally,” Junet trolled Linturi.
