Uhuru allies regret Raila’s loss over conspiracies by Ruto and his team
Uhuru allies regret Raila’s loss in the August general elections especially in the Mt Kenya region over conspiracies by Ruto and his team.
Allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Mt Kenya region have regretted the August 9 Raila’s loss in the region accusing Ruto of ‘propaganda’ to beat Raila
The leaders argued that by rejecting the coalition’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga, the electorate made an ill-informed choice.
Speaking on Saturday in Mathioya Constituency, they stated that despite his retirement, they still consider Mr. Kenyatta is the most qualified for the position of Mt. Kenya kingpin.
By making this claim, they seemed to disprove the notion that Mr. Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president, is the local lord due to his position as the second-highest-ranking government official.
Led by Jubilee Party Director of Elections Kanini Kega, they stated that President William Ruto used lies and misinformation to oust them from regional electoral seats.
Ruto cumulatively garnered over 80 percent of Mt Kenya votes and his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) swept nearly all elective seats in the August 9 General Election.
They were speaking during the burial ceremony of former Mathioya MP Peter Kimari’s father.
“Kenyatta had charted an express highway for Mt Kenya region to reach political Canaan…in his wisdom, his wish was for us to vote for Mr. Raila Odinga,” Mr. Kega said. He said he regretted Azimio’s defeat by Ruto’s UDA.
“If we had a chance to vote again, I would seek guidance from Mr. Kenyatta,” he said.
Outgoing Transport CS James Macharia, former Gatanga MP Mr. Nduati Ngugi, and former Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa) board chairman Kembi Gitura were among those present at the burial service.
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said Azimio was defeated in Mt Kenya through an elaborate conspiracy by the Ruto team.
According to Mr. Ngugi, the Jubilee Party in the Mt. Kenya region needs to be reorganized to keep up with the political atmosphere today.
He emphasized that the party must be watchful and keep track of how the interests of the Mount Kenya region are being served by the current administration, particularly with regard to resource distribution.
He said Uhuru Kenyatta had tried his best but the voice of the voters prevailed.
He said projects worth billions of shillings have been approved for implementation in the Mt Kenya region and are awaiting budgetary allocation.
“At the end of the day, projects that transform lives are key. Mr Kenyatta was truly committed to that cause and it is our hope that this will continue,” he said.
Mr. Gitura said major projects like the Mau Mau, Kenol-Sagana-Marua, Gatanga-Njabini roads, and others that have stalled should be completed.
