Following the appointment of eight officials to posts of state, the Jubilee faction of former President Uhuru Kenyatta has moved to effect changes in the National Executive Committee.
In a notice dated Tuesday, the party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni indicated that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party had decided to replace eight officials in line with Section 23 of the Leadership and Integrity Act, 2012, which bars state officers from participating in political party affairs.
“An appointed state officer shall not engage in any political activity that may compromise or be seen to compromise the political neutrality of the office subject to any laws relating to elections.”
Section 12 of the Political Parties Act, 2011 states that a public officer shall not engage in political activity that may compromise or be seen to compromise the political neutrality of that person’s office.
“In light of these appointments, a National Executive Committee meeting held on November 7, 2023, made the changes to allow the party to continue functioning,” Kioni said.
In the changes, Beatrice Gambo has been appointed the Deputy Party Leader (Outreach) to replace Naomi Shaban who was appointed as chairperson of the Tobacco Control Board on October 12, 2023.
Joseph Manje has been appointed the Deputy Party Leader (Programs) to replace Peter Ole Mositet who was appointed to chair the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA) on August 7.
Kados Muiruri has been appointed Deputy Party Leader (Strategy) to replace Jimmy Angwenyi who was appointed chairperson of the National Heroes Council appointed on October 12.
Jubilee has also appointed Saitoti Torome as National chairperson to replace Nelson Dzuya who was as a member of the Non-Governmental Organization Coordination Board appointed on October 12.

The Party also appointed Ndiritu Muriithi as the Business Council: National chairperson to replace Joel Kibe who was appointed as a member, Council of the University of Nairobi appointed on October 9.
Pauline Njoroge has been appointed as Deputy National Organizing Secretary replacing Mutava Musyimi who was appointed to cheir the Presidential Task Force on Churches appointed on May 4.
Jubilee also appointed Maison Leshomo as Women League national chairperson replacing Fatuma Gedi who was appointed as a member, Commission for Revenue Allocation appointed on December 16, 2022.
Yasir Noor has also been appointed Deputy Secretary General to replace Joshua Kutuny who was appointed to chair the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) on October 27, 2023.
Uhuru Jubilee party said the appointments have been communicated to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to update their records.
“We thank the government of the day for appointing our members and we wish them well in their new roles,” he said.
