Uhuru Kenyatta and Musalia Mudavadi shared light moments on the sidelines of high-level DRC summit.

Retired President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta and prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi shared a moment on the sidelines of the 11th high-level summit for peace and security for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the entire East Africa region as well.

The summit was held in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Uhuru attended the summit as the facilitator for the DRC peace talks. while Musalia Mudavadi was representing President William Ruto who’s on a trip to UK.

The two leaders met for the first time in public after the heated 2022 campaigns that saw Musalia back Ruto for the top seat to the disappointment of Uhuru.

The retired president was rooting for Raila Odinga’s candidature, a candidate Musalia supported in the 2017 and 2007 elections.

Uhuru had tried to bring Musalia and speaker Moses Wetangula in Raila’s camp but both left to back William Ruto.

Heads of State from African countries, government officials and representatives of guarantor institutions who attended the summit urged armed groups in eastern DRC, Sudan and other parts of the region to cease hostility without conditions.

The leaders told the M23 rebels in DRC, warring forces in Sudan and other parts of the region to cease hostility and engage in voluntary disarmament.
