William Kabogo addresses his alleged involvement in the death of Mercy Keino

ICT CS nominee William Kabogo has denied any involvement in the death of Mercy Keino.
Speaking during his vetting at Parliament on Tuesday, January 14, Kabogo denied the allegation that he had organised a party and invited the former student of the University of Nairobi.
According to Kabogo, he was only made aware of Mercy’s death two weeks after her burial.
He expressed that he would not have recognised her had they met a day after going after the restaurant.
“The Issue of Mercy Keino is a very tragic story. The MP has stated that it is alleged that I invited people to a party. It is not true. This is a situation where you find yourself at a place at the wrong time,” he stated.
“It was a public place – a restaurant and there were several groups of people. The issue of the death of Mercy Keino came to me two weeks after she was buried.”

On the other hand, he detailed to MPs that an inquest on the death of the university student was done in 2012. The findings of the inquest were that Mercy died as a result of a hit-and-run.
Kabogo also expressed his sympathies to the family of Keino hoping that the driver of the truck would one day confess.
“I sincerely and truly had nothing to do with it. Suffice it to say an inquest in 2012 was done and all persons of interest were invited including myself,” the nominee added.
“I sat there for 6 days and I was exonerated by the judgment of that court that made a finding that the late Mercy Keino was a victim of a hit and run by a truck. One day I believe the truck driver will come out and say that they did it.”
Mercy’s death on Friday, June 17, 2011, was shrouded with mystery with various allegations made against the CS nominee.
