Ruto makes four changes at State House after Uhuru’s exit
Ruto has in the last week made various changes at State House after Uhuru’s exit following his inauguration on Tuesday, September 13.
As Ruto prepares to impose his authority at State House after the departure of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, some adjustments have elicited conflicting views.
Notably, there were four changes in the images that the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit posted to State House social media platforms (PSCU).
Mounted Photos
Ruto was given a tour of State House by Uhuru prior to his inauguration, as has become customary over time.
Notably, the pictures of Uhuru that were displayed on the State House walls were missing that day.
The new chairs in the State House president’s office were also noticed.
Presidential Portrait
Upon leaving office, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s portrait was replaced with Ruto’s to signify a change of guard.
Notably, Ruto’s official portrait was unveiled during his inauguration moments after Uhuru handed over the instruments of power to his successor.
The change in the portrait was noted when Ruto was officially signing documents in his office to appoint the six judges hours after his inauguration.
Consequently, Ruto’s portrait was made available to the public with the Department of Communication’s sub-county offices selling them at Ksh300.

Presidential Standard
The presidential standard hang at the State House also underwent alterations. During his inauguration, Ruto displayed his standard, a flag that is used in many nations as a symbol of the head of state.
Minutes after Ruto arrived at the State House for his inaugural party, the standard was changed.
Ruto’s standard is yellow and features the wheelbarrow logo, which is a symbol of the United Democratic Party Alliance (UDA).

Within minutes of his inauguration, William Ruto’s profile photo on social media sites replaced one of the State House.
However, the profile was changed to a State House photo with Ruto’s presidential standard and the East African Community (EAC) flag showing in response to a backlash from certain Kenyans.
The shutdown of the presidential website, which PSCU had been using during Uhuru’s rule to post pronouncements, also had an impact on communication.
Since then, Ruto’s presidential photo and standard have taken the place of the website’s original material, indicating that his crew is modifying the page.
The website could be altered in terms of color and design. Notably, Uhuru choose navy blue as his theme color, which was taken from his campaign’s color scheme.
Kanze Dena, a former Citizen TV presenter, is still serving as the State House spokeswoman because Ruto has not yet made any significant appointments at the State House.
The department is most likely to see changes in the upcoming weeks, with insiders suggesting Hussein Mohammed could take Kanze Dena’s place.
Throughout the elections, Hussein worked as the director of communications for the WSR Presidential Secretariat.
Other positions to be filled also include State House chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and political advisor among others.
