Klopp addresses his future uncertainty amid Liverpool’s struggles
Klopp addresses his future uncertainty at Anfield amid Liverpool’s struggles in the Premier League.
Liverpool was held to a home draw by Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, adding to their Premier League angst.
The Reds battled back from a 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 before being overtaken in a six-goal thriller by the opposition thanks to two goals from Roberto Firmino and an own goal from Adam Webster.
Liverpool will now try to build on their victory against Ajax in their Champions League group last month when they host Rangers on Tuesday night.
Klopp on his future at Anfield
The manager’s apparent satisfaction with his situation on Merseyside and the German’s hero status among Liverpool supporters left no room for debate as to his future with the team.
Sadly, this season hasn’t gotten off to Klopp’s expectations. Despite playing one fewer game, they are now 10th in the Premier League, 11 points behind Arsenal and 10 behind Manchester City.
Although a title challenge may already be losing steam, Klopp is still committed to the cause and believes that renewing the contract was the right move.
The Liverpool manager has been speaking to Sky Germany, and made that commitment clear, saying that if he didn’t feel things were right then it would have been best to part ways.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg quotes him speaking specifically about the contract renewal: “I always knew that I would like to stay here. I‘m still at the right place here, 100%. And if not, then you have to end it. It would be silly not to. But everybody involved doesn’t see things like that.”
