On Wednesday, December 21, Baby Sagini and his mother were reunited after she was released from police custody.

Maureen Nyaboke was given permission to visit her son at the Kisii Eye hospital with the police present, even as the three-year-old was put under protective custody.

According to the police, Baby Sagini and his sister were placed under their protection as they feared for their lives in light of the occurrence that send shock among Kenyans.

Additionally, according to a number of accounts, the family was relocated to Nairobi’s covert location out of concern about potential familial reprisal.

The mother, according to the police, was interrogated about her role in the incident before being freed.

During the interrogations, the mother was questioned about her whereabouts on the fateful day when Sagini’s eyes were gouged out.

Nyaboke left the two kids at home while she went to work, the police said.

Meanwhile, detectives stated that they would finalize their preliminary investigations against two suspects that had been arrested earlier in the week.

Police intimated that the two suspects would be arraigned before a court of law on Friday, December 23 to take a plea.
