Ruto was on Friday, February 24 temporarily forced to cut his speech to address a man carrying a baby on his back.
The man made an effort to approach the president as he was speaking during the commissioning of a multibillion-shilling cooking gas plant.
Ruto halted his speech, calling on his security agents to allow the man to sit down, promising to see him after the end of the ceremony.
“Let the man sit down, sit down there. Wait for him to sit down. Yes, let him sit down there. He is carrying a child on his back. You will see me later,” the president said as the crowd applauded.
The president hilariously joked that it was not easy to see a grown-up man carrying a baby in public unless he had many problems.
“If you see a man carrying a baby on his back, he is really in trouble. His problems are not simple. Let him wait” he joked.

In his speech, the president directed the National Treasury to eliminate all taxes on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to make cooking gas more affordable to Kenyans.
Ruto noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration was determined to see Kenyans avoiding using alternative cooking methods, such as wood fuel, which harms the environment.
“Every household in Kenya will have a gas cylinder and we will make sure that the price of gas goes down because we will also do away with all taxes imposed on gas so that we can make sure that every household in the republic of Kenya has access to gas for cooking,” the president stated.
The president also asked the Ministry to eliminate all illegal filling of gas to protect Kenyans from dangerous products.
