Musalia Mudavadi claims ambassadors shut down Raila Odinga in a two-hour meeting

Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary reveals that the ambassadors called out Raila over his demands during their two-hour meeting

Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary reveals that the ambassadors called out Raila over his demands during their two-hour meeting.

On April 1 during a service of thanksgiving held in Malava Constituency, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi provided details about the ambassadors’ private meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Mudavadi claimed that the meeting was held on Sunday, March 26, with the ambassadors calling out Raila.

“Last Sunday, ambassadors met with Raila for two and a half hours. They asked him to explain what his real problem was. In that meeting, Raila and his partners stated that they wanted the server to be opened, the recruitment of new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners stopped, and the return of former commissioners who resigned.

“In that meeting, he didn’t speak about the cost of flour nor the economy,” the Prime CS alleged while addressing attendees at a thanksgiving ceremony hosted by Farouk Kibet, a long-time aide of President William Ruto, in Malava, Kakamega.

Speaking to Raila, he added, “You are getting angry with ambassadors because they told you that you have no case. That is what they told you.”

He further dared Raila to deny his revelation, if he was lying, arguing that the opposition’s credentials as democrats were going down the drain.

Mudavadi observed that the ongoing anti-government protests painted the opposition negatively due to the chaos witnessed during the demonstrations.

Mudavadi’s revelation came a day after Raila hit out at US Ambassador Meg Whitman over what he termed “putting development ahead of democracy”.

Raila acknowledged that Whitman had asked him to accept the results of the August 2022 General Elections.

Furthermore, she urged Raila to stop the bi-weekly demonstrations. Her request irked the opposition leader, who revealed that he also criticized her for defending elections, yet she came to Kenya a few days before the exercise.

“They must allow Kenyans to make a decision of their own. We demand that the servers are opened so that we can continue to interrogate the results in the servers,” Raila reiterated.

As Raila insisted that the demonstrations go ahead, reports claim that they also requested a meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila and Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, met Delaware, US, Senator, Chris Coon, in late March 2023.

According to sources, the senator was urging a cease-fire between the former Prime Minister and President William Ruto.

Coon is renowned for orchestrating President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila’s handshake in March 2018.
