President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga have agreed to hold fresh talks to deliberate on five key issues under contention.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Saturday, July 29, Raila stated that the two political formations have agreed to set up a ten-member mediation team made up of different stakeholders.
The fresh dialogue will be facilitated by former Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo.
The two sides said they have agreed to form a ten-member committee to steer the talks, five from each side.
They termed it a collective determination to resolve their differences amicably for the benefit of Kenyans.
“The committee shall be seized with the following five issues; reconstitution of IEBC; implementation of two thirds gender rule, entrenchment of constituency development fund, establishment and entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and embedment of the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.”
The committee will include four members from outside Parliament, two from each side, leaders of the Majority and Minority from the National Assembly and four additional Members of Parliament -two from each side.
Azimio stated that the information was released after consultation with the leadership of Kenya Kwanza on the state of the nation.

The coalition also assured that further details on the initiative will be communicated in due course.
The coalition reaffirmed its strong commitment to achieving a peaceful resolution while also tackling critical issues that continue to impact the nation, such as the cost of living and electoral justice.
The new development comes after on Tuesday, July 25, Ruto extended an olive branch to Raila for one on one talks.
In a statement, Ruto said he was ready to engage in talks at his political nemesis convenience.
“My friend Raila Odinga, I am off to Tanzania for a human capital meeting to harmonise the expansion of employment opportunities in our continent.
“I will be back tomorrow evening, and as you have always known, am available to meet one on one with you anytime at your convenience,” he stated.
