At least 70,629 passports are ready for collection across the country, according to the Immigration Department in the Ministry of Interior.
According to the Directorate of Immigration Department, between September 25 and October 20, 43,742 passports were printed, bringing the total number of passports to 131,196.
This came after Kenyans complained about the delay in processing and issuing the first 87,454 passports, prompting the government to launch the Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to expedite the document processing.
The program started on September 25 and thus far 60,567 passports have been collected.
According to the department, the list of passports that are ready will still be shared on its official Twitter account, X.
“Every Wednesday, during the RRI period, a list scheduling the collection of passports the following week is posted on the Directorate of Immigration official Twitter (X) account: @ImmigrationDept.”
